In Navy boot camp, we got back to the barracks after KP week, 5/8, they told us that Russia just nuked one of our allies and that basic training is being cut short. We would be issued new orders and be aboard ship by the following morning. Everyone was freaked out, a couple of guys started to cry....

Yep, the AOCS regiment bldg shown in this video was still there in 1987 when I reported in, with the difference being you could drive your own vehicle to NAS Pensacola vs the bus ride shown. But the USMC Drill Instructors were still the same! 😅
They still had an F-4 parked across the street at the Schools Command then that is was later replaced with a legacy F/A-18 Hornet
