That should have been covered by Bereavement Leave. Boss has no right to deny it

Death is also a short notice so

If this is real she should have just reported him to hr and bbb. Now she actively has an arrestable offense for being allowed to leave anyway

When my Mom passed, I got the call at work. I was immediately given all the leave I needed. A coworker drove me home and another followed to bring her back to work. I was out for a week?? Maybe two?? No questions asked

Sounds like this could be made into a movie. It could be titled “Working 9-5”

She could have just called in ill and kept her flight. Show the death certificate when you get back.

Why do people do this? Anything that can cause bodily harm is OBVIOUSLY a crime. Does the guy deserve to poop for 24 hours straight? Yeah, he’s the worst. But you won’t catch me catching charges over a crappy boss.

I wouldn't even showed up, I would have stayed home and then went to the airport screw work.

I had that happen, but I had a cool boss. My mom passed away 1 week after mothers day. Last time I heard her voice was on mothers day. That was 6 years ago. My boss said to take the time you need. Knowing my dad is the last of my family, no siblings.

I can’t even imagine a boss like that. My company doesn’t want us at work when we’re dealing with that kind of loss. The whole company steps up to take up the slack. Are there people who abuse that? Of course. They don’t last long here.

When my mum died I was given two weeks paid compassionate leave to deal with the funeral and family matters.
Different work attitude in the UK though.
