As a liquor store owner myself, no bourbon is worth over $200 in my opinion. Secondary market is insanely over-inflated and the typical drinker cannot afford anything over that price point.

Plus Pappy is typically only bought by self-esteemed rich guys who enjoy the luxury of the bottle more than the flavor.

I’m not sure about the new Pappy 20 releases, but the 2009 Pappy 20 year I tasted blew me away. My all time favourite bourbon to date.

I got the chance last year to taste Pappy 20. I did not like it AT ALL. So glad to hear the same opinion from someone who knows more than I do about what good bourbon should taste like :)

I would love to try any of the pappy's just to say I've tasted the whiskey but unfortunately my local liquor stores only do lotteries when Pappy comes in and unfortunately I've yet to win and I'm definitely not going to pay secondary market price for that or any allocated whiskey for that matter.

You and I talked about that 20 year bottle you had before and I wonder if there was something wrong with it. My only experience with above 15 was at a bar in Louisville and my buddies son bought the last pour of a bottle of 20 and I was facing away talking to someone when it was poured and I immediately turned around saying what is that amazing vanilla smell and it tasted just like the nose. I will definitely try to get another taste of some other bottle to see if it replicates your experience or mine. But all of the Pappys are not worth the secondary prices. I have a LotB from Christmas I picked up for under 200 and I’m looking forward to enjoying it. Cheers!

I have some Van 10 haven’t opened it yet, but was able to get a pour in DC for about $40. It was great, but honestly I’ve had better bourbon

How about the 15? Does that one taste over-oaked?

10yr and lot b are great to me very floral and fruit forward. 15 and 20 are definitely over Oaked would not pay the pour price from them. If you can find 10 or b for around 50$ a pour it’s worth it imo.

Over-oaked. 15 is the bomb. Old Rip 10 is better than Lot B. Lot B needs 10 to 15 more proof points.
