Roar is a 1981 American adventure comedy film written and directed by Noel Marshall starring Tippi Hedren and Melanie Griffith.

During production, the cast and crew members faced dangerous situations; 70 people, including the film's stars, were injured in attacks from the untrained animals on set. Flooding from a dam destroyed much of the set and equipment, dramatically increasing the film's budget. In 1983, Hedren founded the Roar Foundation and established the Shambala Preserve sanctuary, to house the animals appearing in the film. She also wrote a book, The Cats of Shambala (1985), about the events that took place during its production. The film has been described as "the most dangerous film ever made" and "the most expensive home movie ever made", and has gained a cult following.

A movie about this would make more than the movie itself

Everyone needs to do a deep dive on this. It's absolute INSANE. The cats were just living in the house free roam for years. There were CHILDREN (one being Melanie Griffith) living in the house with them. Just there.

Oh my gosh, my mom and I researched this movie a few years ago the stories about this movie are insane first off, everyone was on drugs, and one of the cameraman said he still has nightmares of lions running after him.

That movie had me the most scared for the leads of any movie I have ever watched. Was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Lions had a 10/10 performance. Very natural.

Literally everything was trying to stop the making of this film. You think at some point in 11 years somebody would have thought, "maybe this is a sign". πŸ˜…

NEVER forget the villain lion named Togar. We had a bad movie night watching this and all the guys in the room started rooting for Togar in the middle of the movie.

The fact that the camera guy showed back up to work is dedication talking about a work ethic πŸ˜‚. I don’t think I would go back

I feel so sad for the animals that were killed because of them, the actors chose to be there and any injuries they had were their own fault but the animals never chose to be there

The only logical explanation for why this happened is cocaine.

How have I never heard anything about this!?!? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ this is absolutely unhinged and insane πŸ˜‚ and I love the way you explained this, something about your voice, demeanor, the way you worded it. So comforting yet still hilari

I saw a video about morbid movie facts and learned that this movie had the most injuries during filming, so naturally I had to watch it. Pure anxiety mixed with β€œdid I miss a plot twist somewhere?” I love how you go through movies and talk about what we’re all thinking, and asking the important question of β€œwhy do people think these things are great ideas?”
