Got a stiff leg?
Transitioning from a straight leg to a "relaxed leg" can be difficult if you struggle with abnormal synergy patterns (groups of muscles linking up abnormally) and/or spasticity (involuntary muscle contraction) in the calf (muscles that point the foot) and/or the quads (muscles that straighten the knee)

If you have either an abnormal synergy and/or spasticity, you might notice when you try and swing your leg through, that you hike your hip up or swing your leg around the side, or both.

To "unlearn" the hip hike/swinging the leg around the side, try placing your foot on a skateboard. This will make it easier and possibly allow you to learn how to bring the leg forward without the additional movement at the hip!

Hemorrhagic stroke one year and 4 months ago. It's a difficult exercise for me (I can't keep my heel on the board and I can't even keep the right direction). But I will keep trying. Would it be helpful if, to begin with, I will do this exercise from a sitting position to gain better control? I will also do the other exercise with my foot on the big ball to correct the circumduction. Thank you very much for all the exercises presented, they are very useful.
