Geet as a character had many issues. Her behaviour was definitely unpredictable and her over excitement could suffocate anyone. She was too self centred and couldn't understand the other person's situation and problems.
But, Anshuman was also wrong for not inquiring about Geet when she left. Geet completely vanished from his life and he didn't care. He found his interest in Geet only when he saw a rich person like Aditya going out of his way for someone Anshuman had rejected previously.

when he neglected her for 9 months knowing that she was all alone by herself
1. he was not in love ...this is not love
2. mistakes like these is not forgivable
and hence he was a red flag

Na yaar.. he only wanted to come back to her when he saw Aditya getting close to her. He was triggered by the fact that he is getting replaced by someone smarter and richer

I agree Geet was an unpredictable character and she should have spoken to Anshuman before going to his house but even Anshuman never enquired about her well being for 9 whole months and morever he asked Aditya,Kaun Geet..that means he completely forgot her or was trying to avoid conversation regarding her so i absolutely dont see Anshuman as a positive character either

Greenest of flags when he encourages Geet to go tell her family about their relationship by herself, because he believed in ⭐️ woman empowerment ⭐️

I can give Anshuman the benefit of doubt considering the thoughtlessness of Geet's actions. The only thing I don't agree with is that you call Anshuman's behaviour a mistake. A mistake is picking up salt instead of pepper. Things that affect other people are 'choices' not mistakes. The internet often confuses the two

While I agree that Anshuman wasn't as bad as he was portrayed to be, calling him a hero (or even a genuine lover) would certainly be an overstatement. His initial shock at seeing Geet show up without notice is understanble, but he never cared about her afterwards and his later actions were only driven by a sort of envy or a newfound desire on getting a hint of Aditya-Geet friendship. So we can't really believe he was willing to go to lengths to make amends and be a worthy life partner later.

Anshuman didn’t sacrifice as much as Geet did when she ran away. When he came with her to Bhatinda, he basically said he would take care of his family too with the whole marriage issue. Also, in one scene, Geet is shown crying with Anshuman telling her to leave, and his family is there watching. Like how would he convince them if Geet had ended up with him?!

Watching this movie as an adult, you can really appreciate how well sadness, depression, feeling alone, not getting the love you wanted, getting rejected was portrayed. The whole movie is really well made.

In the end, its girl who was given a choice. In every story, its same with Vicky's character from manmarziya, or with aman from kuch kuch hota hai, or with rahul from ajab prem ki ghazab kahani. Non of these characters where bad just misunderstood.

He deserves better*
Stories, if they’re about life, live on. The characters’ stories in the stories live on. So, of course Geet and Anshuman both deserve better than their lost love for each other :)
Anshuman probably finds a great girl who he loves and who loves her back and things fall in place at the right time. (It’s anyone’s grab to write that story right now 👀)
And Jab We Met is a great tale for the time and moments it captures

It is not about what he did before or what he did later. It is about if your person does something entirely stupid (which Geet did) you have their back. He should have taken her back immediately to home (would have made his impression better in front of Geet's parents also). But he left her for 9 GODDAMN MONTHS. That was not okay. Geet was not a red flag, she was just immature. Let's face it, there a lot of people in our lives who are not mature, doesn't mean they are red flags. She was just a silly girl in love with guts. Also, he didn't love her. He bitched about her to Aditya who he didn't even know. Geet and Aditya were perfect. 🧿✨

Nope, he knew his family would not accept her and yet kept her on hook
Left her on road literally, could not even bother to get her home or find her a safe place
If that is a green flag, someone who puts your safety in jeopardy, rehne do
Akele hi theek hain, aise green flag toh bilkul nahi chahiye

Then why he had an affair with her if he couldn't get married and have responsibilities.....nd when she moved on he came back....a man who doesn't know how to deal with the situation while its about his girl...is the biggest red flag...first they make u fall in love and makes u feel like u r the princess of this entire strawberry world....and then will show u the reality when it comes to take responsibility

I guess the biggest mistake is that he didn't appreciate her at the right time. That kinda overlooks everything else
