They already had free will, everything was supposdly perfect, (Although why would adam and eve have wanted something else if it was already perfect). Then God in all his loving grace placed a temptation there himself in the garden which he knew full well could cause all suffering to ensue afterwards, and this is supposed to be loving care and good parenting?

I had a revelation which I want to check with others - does the story not make WAY more sense if the tree of the knowledge of good and evil is actually about (knowledge of) sexual reproduction? Humans (mythologically) became able to reproduce, but were prevented from living forever, like the telomeres limiting lifespans but also preventing cancer, or (phenomenologically?) we learn about reproduction, while also becoming aware of our mortality?
