Just kidding. They never think that. That's the difference between them and mature people. Mature people have the capacity to be better than their primal instincts. They spend their lives working on mastering the art so that it can be puzzling realizing that a lot of people don't work on themselves and spend their whole lives stuck at the most fundamental stage of maturity.
My narcissistic mother misinterpreted struggles I was experiencing and told me I was at rock bottom when really I was generally on top of the world. I realized she's the one at rock bottom, having spent her whole life refusing to ascend to the most basic level of maturity.
