Rice Krispie vs The Bottom of The Ocean
 60 FPS video

Today, we're going to see what happens if this Rice Krispy sank to the bottom of the ocean.

To do this, we'll be using this machine called an isostatic press, that can hydraulically press things equally from all angles.

Who would've thought there was so much oil at the bottom of the ocean

I didn't think a ziplock bag could withstand 3x ocean pressure

We learned that Ziplocks don’t work that far underwater!!!
Valuable information indeed!

Rice crispies are basically air. So, yes a vacuum was pulled at the beginning, but the air in the treat probably escaped in the high pressure chamber and ended up bursting the bag. Hole in the bag = oil entering and the flattened rice crispie treat act like a sponge when normal pressure returned.

Rice crispy turned into the Titanic.
Thx for 4.6K likes
Speaking of Titanic, did you known the pool in the Titanic still has water?

The air left in the bag after the seal probably expanded too fast after pressure was removed rupturing the bag. Or you sealed it improperly.

I always expect something much more dramatic when it gets thrown into the deepest part of the ocean but I guess not.

Maybe because oil has a different viscosity and density than water?

Maybe some sharp edges of the Krispie poked a hole in the plastic bag when it was vacuumed? I suggest grating/sanding the Krispie edges before the vacuum bag.

Dip the sealed plastic bag in melted wax. Let it cool. Then place that inside another sealed plastic bag. The pressure will attempt to force the plastic into the wax, and that will force the inner plastic bag against the treat. The wax won't penetrate the inner bag because it's viscosity is too great and will instead distribute the pressure of the oil perfectly.

Use and actual cryo-vac bag, like the kind of bags restaurants get bulk meats in. Theyre impermeable, although that is rating at only one atmosphere so maybe not cryo-vac bags...
