There are 3 things you have to understand as a parent, before getting frustrated that your child is not talking enough.

🗣️ Communication is a basic fundamental right of every individual, NO child remains silent WANTEDLY. Everyone wants to feel belonged and heard.

🗣️ For a healthy communication to happen - Take the focus off “making the child talk”. Focus on establishing connection, and setting up the right environment, which encourages the child to communicate. Talking because someone else is forcing to talk is not communication. Children won’t talk when forced to, in fact the opposite happens. They become anxious and seal their lips up.

🗣️ Usually in early childhood communication emerges from - expressing wants and needs, expressing surprise, discomfort, joy and fear, requesting, wanting help etc. Now ask yourself - does my child have an opportunity to express his / her wants? Does he know the words to express? Has he heard those words enough? - If you introspect and answer these questions honestly, you will have your answer.
