1. Chichen Itza in Mexico was our 4th Mayan ruins and it was far from being our favorite. We did like it, it’s busy but not packed and there is a lot of history there. However, I definitely don’t see any reason to go back there again.. For instance, I would much rather go back to the ruins of Tikal for a sunrise but Chicken Itza is on my list of places I wouldn’t go again.

2. Cartagena in Colombia is so popular among tourists and this is exactly why we didn’t like it. We felt like it really lacks authenticity, everything there is to make money on travelers and there are so many better small cities in Latin America that deserve more attention.

3. It took us 5 hours to see Christ the Redeemer up close and even though I’m glad we did tick it off as it’s a New Wonder of the World, I don’t have any desire to go there again. The statue is only 30 meters high and looks much better from the bottom of the mountain. There are a lot of places in Rio that offer similar views but without the crowds.

4. Bodrum in Turkey is cool for a lazy holiday but I would much rather go somewhere else for that, like Italy or Greece, and get better scenery. And, honestly, there are even much better places on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey with better views, less people and better price tags.
