I was never alive during a time that people made catchy music purely for the sake of self expression. The mixture of influences, then the vocal delivery particular to his voice, and then the non-trope heavy lyrics with unexpected suspension to the rhyme schemes (not concluding the scheme where it feels most expected) its just so beautifully simple but not dumbed down and formulaic. And theres no doubt in my mind that this is HIM. Not a whole lot of this kind of music on the frontlines, at least not for a long time and its refreshing
