If seats were not meant to recline, they would not be able to recline. He is under no obligation to ask her if he can recline. That was polite of him to do so, and he even only dropped it back slightly. She had more than enough legroom and was just being nasty.

I’m with the guy; he had respect to ask before he attempted to recline his seat, he never had to ask permission but he did, shows him to be of good character. 👍
