use tablet as a rough copy and daily class notes , and use real book for short notes and imp. things , both will work efficiently

More clear way to chose if your study plan include video lecture for the whole degree buy a Tablet/Ipad
If it doesn't and reading gives you more understanding use books as source !!
Ps: using mobile for lecture can also work but using mobile for pdf reading is inconvenient

also your eyes will hurt if you continuously read on tablet or ipad consider this point too. for beginners books are good because you dont know that how much you are going to read
