Why use this technique?
By pulling before you go into the position you’ll learn how to engage the muscles we use when we actually perform a chin up.
So you can spend the same amount of time holding the chin over bar holds, but one will give you more bang for the buck.
You’ll also get a few extra cm of range in the top position, which can be useful for muscle ups or just to make it more clean.
I like to use this principle for the setup in many different exercises.
