Yep. That is a creepy sound. I grew up in the D. The first time I heard that in my backyard here it just about made me S#!% myself. ... Bang Bang.

They walk right up the sidewalk in my neighborhood in Phoenix in the middle of the day stalking lil dogs being walked by the 55+ owners. New tracks through the gravel “yard” every day. Chasing squadrons of javelina. They snagged one of my cats from a 7’ palm and had him consumed in 15 seconds. Awe fully fascinating to witness. They jump the 5’ cinder block fence around the back yards. No sweat. They herded and ambushed the cat. Now I use a retro toy, a cap rocket, which can be tossed and goes bang when it lands. Loud enough. We try to herd them towards the greenway which drains from South Mountain. It intersects 3 golf courses in 2 miles. Lots of space for them and us. Still, it’s the burbs. Also .... coyotes will howl along with a Native style F# flute. At sunset before they begin, YOU play a few notes and begin the sunset symphony of wildlife. Really. It’s a trip. Slowly peel your fingers away from the holes and the noes will bend like a howl. Then laugh!
