ā€œBetter pilotsā€ was a violation to all naval aviators

To be fair, the navy lands on a wire. The air force gets a whole ass runway.

Air Force: "A little left...a little more... Almost there. Ah perfect."

Navy: "Done"

The Air Force lands. The Navy arrives

Now it makes sense why some of my commercial flights are soft landings and some just throw the airplanes onto the runway.

Navy pilots need one skill that Air Force pilots don't generally need: To be able to find the runway when it moved while you were away. "I know it was here a while ago...."

I'm prior Air Force working as a contractor at a Naval Air Station. The Navy sure does go through tires fast.

You can dance with the 16ā€™s if you get those flaps down and wings out. Just make sure youā€™re not doing it above Mach .75 so wings will go flying.

Thereā€™s a joke in airlines you can tell if the pilot landing was Navy or any other branch.

Navy pilots have to do that on the aircraft carrier so if they miss the arrest cable so they can go around for a second try

Naval aviators are something else. Being able to land on a SHORT "mobile landing strip" aka an aircraft carrier, especially in choppy weather, is nothing short of amazing

Landing on a carrier they are also going full power after touching deck in case they miss the wire if I remember correctly

would love to see how many times the ā€œbetter pilotsā€ in the air force could hit that 3 wirešŸ˜‚

Had a Navy pilot fly in a class at Luke in an F-16. He blew a strut landing.

Love the old fighter pilot saying: Flare to land-squat to pee!
