Cassini's final flight sounded like the final walk of a soldier. Rest in peace my friend. :')

As part of the team responsible for the manufacture of the gold insulating film for Cassini it was a very sad/proud moment for me. I will personally never physically touch space in my lifetime yet my hand has been to Saturn.

I am not sure if tragic is the correct word. I prefer to think it a triumphant Viking funeral after a perfect performance of duty.

A Viking burial in space. What an amazing way to go.

It's so weird how we can feel emotions towards, what are essentially, advanced hunks of metal and plastic. I felt the same way I feel about Cassinni as I did when I heard that Opportunity had died. We give these things personalities, we sort of humanize them, even if we don't realize it.

I love how emotional you make it, even though they deorbited him intentionally.

That last VFX shot of Saturn was so beautiful - looking outwards at the rings from Saturn is breathtaking

I remember when they made this animation. The designer is a true artist. I had so much emotion watching this originally

When the scientists started to cry in the control room was as touching as the death of a living thing

I cried during the live coverage of this. I’m not going to hide that. Cassini was an incredible machine that represented the BEST of humanity. There’s no way to say good by to that without feeling it in your heart. The pictures and data that it collected have inspired a generation. I love sharing them with my boys. I want them to grow up with the Cassini mission as a source of inspiration and wonder.
