Do you still have him? I have experience in senior/medical dogs. I had a rescue Maltese that was obviously in a bottom wire cage that you frequently mentioned. She had mammary tumors and all her teeth removed. My yorkie Zoe in her life dealt with allergies,a bout that we didn’t know what was wrong with her and she spent a week NC State University Vet School ICU, she has had gastroenteritis and in her final year… she tore her ACL… we took her to laser therapy and rehab and an Assisi loop - she made a full recovery. after that, she had an ulcerated cornea and she got such good care at an eye specialty clinic. She healed. Then that may, she was diagnosed with an inoperable cancer. We took her for imaging, we did acupuncture at our home with a vet who came to our house… I got very good at giving her medication, and even gave her injections - she was my life… God broke the mold when he made her💕. So point is…. I got very used to high bills. Her week in ICU was 9k alone. Glad that we were lucky enough to be able to afford the best care for her. She was our child so it wasn’t an option to not do it.

UPDATE: we found out Gene had aspiration pneumonia while he was in the hospital, which is why his recovery was so tough. He is home now!!! Everything is going well, he’s receiving better than expected and once he’s fully healed, he will be adoptable!!! handoverrover.org/
