Sister Paxton died in the end. The ending was her passage into the afterlife; escaping the house. Did you notice the white light shining behind her when she was walking through the snow? She said earlier in the film that if she died, she would reincarnate as a butterfly and land on people’s hands so that they know it’s her. A butterfly landed on her hand in the ending scene when she “escaped”, meaning she died.

Sometimes an artery will spasm and close temporarily which explains her short rebirth. As for the snow - snow is cold and possibly indicates the girls cooling body. A stomach wound is a slow death and the appearance of the Monarch could be a delusion.

Did not even consider this but it now makes sense. When we see her phone on the ground, it says no service. She should have service if she were outside but not if she were in Heaven.
