There is some truth in this!
I was always a very insecure boy due to childhood sibling persecutions by my sisters! So later as I noticed that ppl. did seem to look at me in passing I became more intimidated and insecure esp. if it was by women! It was as if I felt that all women saw me as threatening, whilst I was feeling threatened!
Hardly ever received compliments apart from one of my sisters.
I did find over the years that ppl. were very forthcoming in divulging their personal or family problems to me, and were usually satisfied with what advise or counselling I'd offered. That was nice for me.
