I’ve done this so much that I skip steps in conversations. When I was a kid, my mom would ask right before dinner, “did you wash your hands?” If said yes, she would ask “really? You never wash your hands coming in for dinner, why would you now? Are you lying to me?” And I would respond, “no, I’m telling the truth, I just went to the can, so I washed my hands after that, it has nothing to do with the food.”
So what my adhd did was hear my mom ask, “did you wash up for dinner?” And I would respond, “I just went to the restroom,” and I’d get this weird look from my mom, like, why tf was that your response, but I’m just trying to get to the end of the conversation cus I know exactly how it works

Yeah this happens to me. I get really bored during the conversation due to it, but when it really affects me is when im reading. I will try to predict what the next couple sentences will say. And since im really imaginative when reading i will create whole plotlines about what i predict i will read. There are even times that what i predicted are legitimately better than what it actually turns out to be. When that happens, i ruin the story temporarily and i can't read it for some time.
