That's a gorgeous view! The 1000 ft container ship is the Hangzhou Bay making a 14 day trip to Tokyo. The 104 foot pilot vessel Drake assisted. Unlike Great Lakes pilot boats, the Drake says out for 4 days, in rotation with 2 other boats. They remain stationed 12 miles offshore. It's a very dangerous channel. Only 2000 feet at its narrowest width dredged to 50 feet. A long sand bar makes matters quite challenging.

Being in San Francisco, seeing this is wonderful. Picture was taken from the Presidio, Fort. A former military base in San Francisco. I watch daily these beautiful mega ships enter San Francisco Bay every day. The Port Of Oakland, not like the Port Of Long Beach, Los Angeles, San Diego or Seattle, move more goods produced here in the United States out to sea on these ships for all other ports in the world. This isn't so at other west coast ports in the United States. Prior to CoVid-19 these ships coming and leaving the Port Of Oakland moved like a freight train, too numerous to count. Today, sad to say that these ships can be counted on two hands, maybe three during light hours. Thanks Mike for posting this short. 😎

Looking forward over the ship is Sausalito on the other side of the bridge. If you would keep moving to the right, then Alcatraz would soon come into view. Loved San Francisco, beautiful city and the wharf district is not too far rolling further right. You can see the seals in the water right next to the wharves. Have fun Mike, beautiful area, and not far from Napa Valley as well!!!

Another note to add about these mega ships. Many if stood-up on end will be taller than one of the towers of the GGB, Golden Gate Bridge witch is 890' tall I believe, not sure tho. 😮
