That is honestly disgusting, I totally agree with you on it. These poor women just want to sing and make music, but are constantly reminded about their weight. It must be very difficult for them

Oh my god, this is awful! Those "beauty" standards are insane. The producers literally make people starve. Plus, k-pop performers usually have very elaborate dance routines. No wonder those poor girls fainted. This has to stop.

K-Pop culture is so toxic. The idols go through hell on so many levels.... and the fans are all aware of it. The parents, the idols, and the fans all need to get a grip.

Yep itā€™s pretty gross. A few people I know from South K who used to want to train for stardom soon found out that most stars are: passed around during training (male & female), forced into bleaching & plastic surgery (if you donā€™t naturally meet beauty standards), overwork & starved. Most weigh less than 100lbs. They really do need legal protection.

I think about all the autoimmune diseases these poor kids must get. I developed so many diseases from having PTSD cause chronic vomiting. I can't imagine how their bodies rebel against the abuse.

Goodddd im so glad more people are speaking up about the DANGEROUS beauty standards for predominantly female (but also male) idols. Body shaming, eating disorders and forced extreme dieting is STANDARD. And many fans who express concerns or try to speak up against it are silenced by other fans being called antis and haters. Its really, really sad. Especially considering this new generation of SUPER young and SUPER skinny female idols like IVE, NewJeans etc... I dont want to think about how this extreme standard impacts these young girls' mental and physical health long-term...

That's just the weight. Don't forget about the boatloads of plastic surgery, v-line surgery, etc. Super invasive. Nose jobs. Double eyelid surgery, etc.

These are not Idols, these are Idealized slaves, their image, their speech, their time their privacy...none of it belongs to them, they're artists who are turned into products for mass consumption. I feel bad for them.

I don't understand why it's like this though.. does Korea not understand that these girls can be famous and not be treated like this?

When i was at 47kg my hair was falling out and i still have not gotten my period back after 2 year and a half. I was exhausted and my digestive issues were horrible. I got down to 98lbs and i was so depressed. Im happy to say im recovered and I feel much better! I can do intense workouts without feel like im going to collapse. Also I'm not saying those weights are bad, but for me personally, hats not how my body was meant to be.

47kg is 103 pounds, that is absolutely horrible. It can be fine to weigh 47kg depending on your height and body type but for taller or average sized women theyā€™re bodies need at least 12% of essential fat in order to function correctly.
