Ground the pots to the bridge and pickups additionally add copper shielding inside the pickup cavity.

I'm so happy you made this I think this is what my jazzmaster is suffering from. It's a hard problem to google. Thanks Phil!

This happened to me! Drove me crazy for a while . Thought it was the pickups or grounding. Called PRS tech crew (have a early S2 mat finish)and they new about it . I was told that if the pick guard had pvc in it this could happen. I picked up another pick guard that I was told didnā€™t have pvc . Worked great for a while but started up again . I took strong medical clear tape and put it where my fingers were touching the guitar . Works great . Will probably experiment with another guard but for now problem is solved. PRS tech crew is a great group of guys!

Iā€™ve had this on several guitars. Dryer sheets helped for the short term but it was only corrected by shielding the pickguard and guitar cavity with copper shielding tape.

I have never seen or heard this on any guitar I've ever played, nor have I even known this could be an issue. And I'm a pickguard fiend, it's one of my favorite design elements, played hundreds of them.

I shield the backside of my pick guards and bond them to the cavity shielding with a piece of foil or a piece of wire. Donā€™t have that issue.

Never had this in NJ... never when I lived in LA. In TN I now have so many guitars this happens to. Tried a dryer sheet but didn't last long (30 minutes) and nasty feeling & smelling. Hope this lasts longer.

Does static guard help your tone?

The pickup covers look so good. What are they? Nickel/chrome? Brushed?

If you own a Zerostat for your vinyl collection, it works well too.

I live in Los Angeles and have never experienced static on my pick guard on any of my guitars? I have experienced Static X though

So, do guitars without plastic just all hardwoods solid guitars still have static only then? From the pickups maybe?
