There's something very unsettling about watching a axe head get screwed onto the handle

This can't possibly be more durable than an actual axe. The blade is held on 2 thin rods, the wood has holes running through it. It's a recipe for something breaking.

As a former professional axe thrower and someone who uses axes daily for a multitude of tasks. That axe is a BIG NOPE for me.

Something about this axe feels unsafe AF.

There's a reason they don't make axes this way

youre putting so much faith in the tensile and sheer strength of those bolts

I can't believe you paint your handles now, weren't you the guy that used to recommend scraping all the varnish off and just using oil?

To everyone saying the bolts are fine…they aren’t the issue…the female threads inside the axe head are the issue. When the bolts inevitably begin to loosen and a bad swing transfers excessive lateral force to the bolts, they will begin damage the female threads inside the axe head. A broken or rusted bolt can easily be repaired but not the axe head.

Makes a nice decoration for someone who has never swung an axe in their life.

Ooh baby, that sure is introducing a lot of failure points to an already immaculately designed tool.

Those 4 threads on the axe are gonna hold up great...

I'd like to see a follow-up review on this. I feel like if each swing is spot on then it'd hold up, but as soon as it gets a lateral impact/glancing blow that the shear strength of those thin, long bolts won't be enough

That's a cool axe. I always strip any kind of finish off tool handles. Varnish, polyurethane, enamel etc. are what cause blisters when working all day.
