Water never be dropped rather than the level of water decrease if ice is in sufficient quantity .

Density of ice is less than density of water

Ice takes more volume bcz volume is inversely proportional to density

When it melts down into water the density of water is > d(ice) so, water takes less volume.

Just to be correct , ice is less dence than water. So it ocupies more space then water and it floats over water. So without quantitative relation it is difficult to find out about water will spill or not.
