The X-Trail Files Big Jobs - How to remove the turbo on the 2.2 DCi

16 videos • 13,832 views • by Random Although I have tried to keep it detailed, this playlist should be viewed as a basic 'how to guide.' I do assume the viewer has some basic spanner/wrench skills and basic set of tools. All the tools used are usual socket and spanner (wrench) sets. I do use a hose spring clip removal pliers to remove and install the hose clips. Normal pliers can be used but hose pliers are much easier and less chance of slipping. Don't forget to support vehicle on axle stands and apply parking brake and chock the wheels! If in doubt take photos of your engine bay and component location to help reassembly - which as the saying goes; 'Installation is the reversal of removal' There will be further videos on the regular The Xtrail Files playlist showing how to take apart the Garrett VNT GT18V turbo. The D.i T30 Xtrails are very similar with regard to turbo removal. There will be some differences but they should be easily spotted. Thanks for watching. Tech details covered in each video: Part 1. Intercooler, boost sensor disconnect and solenoid valve & bracket. Part 2. Battery and battery tray. Part 3. Drain coolant. Part 4. Remove manifold heat shield. Part 5. Cooling fan unit. Part 6. Radiator. Part 7. Turbo inlet pipe. Part 8. Remove lower coolant pipe & hose. Part 9. Remove lower and front heat shields. Part 10. Thermostat housing and exhaust flange nuts. Part 11. Disengage downpipe from turbo. Part 12. Remove exhaust manifold nuts & EGR to manifold bolt and nut. Part 13. Disengage turbo oil feed and return pipes. Remove turbo and manifold as a complete unit.
