Norway

My trip took me from the capital city, Oslo up to Trondheim by train with breaktaking views along the route. Trondheim is a fascinating city and a great venue for a short city break or even a long weekend. I continued northwards by train to Bodo the most Northerly point of Norway's railway network, then headed across to the Lofoten archipelago where the views are not to be missed. My journey from Bodo to Svolvaer by ferry was a rough crossing and my video captures that heart stopping experience. After renting a car and travelling around the ruggedly beautiful Lofoten, I headed up further Northwards deeper into the Arctic Circle to my next destination, which was the picturesque city of Tromso. I spent Norway's Constitution Day celebrating with the local people as the took to the streets to party in the land of the midnight sun. Onwards I flew up to Kirkenes in North Eatern Norway, close to the Russian border, where I boarded the Hurtigruten Coastal Express for its Southwards voyage to Norway's second city of Bergen. I was fortunate enough to record a pod of Whales swimming close to the ship. I visited Nordkapp (North Cape) the Northern most point in mainland Europe as well as experiencing the wonderfully dramatic views of the Seven Sisters and Trollfjord. After spending a few days in historic Bergen, I took the ferry along the Sognefjord to Flam and boarded the train for what is claimed to be the most scenic railway journey in the world. A day in the beautiful ski resort of Voss saw me then head back to Oslo my final destination of my Scandinavian Tour 2022. Whilst expensive, I did get the opportunity to sample the growing cocktail bar scene in Oslo and it was an amazing experience. Norway is a truly wonderful country to visit and the Norwegian people are very friendly. Start saving for your own trip to this delightful and diverse place because it isn't cheap!
