Barney McAll -Piano Memoirs from Peggy Glanville-Hicks House

2 videos • 1 views • by extracelestialarts This collection of piano pieces was recorded during my one-year residency at the Peggy Glanville-Hicks Composer House in Sydney (2015-2016). It is a personal documentation where I explore ideas, stretch out, and express sounds, alone in my lounge room. The only other being listening was our dog Luna Blue :) RODE microphones provided me with a pair of NTR Ribbon mics, which I set up with their guidance, and I also used a small camera to casually film these "piano memoirs" or snapshots of the me, who was living at Peggy Glanville Hicks Composer house. The residency was a much-needed respite in my life, and my family and I were so happy arrive from New York and be greeted with a beautiful two-story house in Paddington, Sydney, replete with a 108-key Stuart and Sons piano. This is the piano on this album. I stumbled across these audio &video recordings recently and decided to release them. They are a testament to a time and a place and a me that will never be again, for better or worse. I hope you enjoy these sounds as much as I enjoyed creating them, freely... 'The iridule -when, beautiful and strange, In a bright sky above a mountain range One opal cloudlet in an oval form Reflects the rainbow of a thunderstorm Which in a distant valley has been staged-- For we are most artistically caged.' - Vladimir Nabokov
