The quality of the recordings : These were taken from a portable AM / FM radio taped on a VHS player - recorder . Then edited to another VHS tape. Then played real time and recorded on a computer in MP3 . Then rendered to a movie to be put here on you tube . The quality is lacking. I suggest you down load it then use an equalizer to chop out some of the " static “. Remember it was AM Radio . After I moved out of state I had a friend record and send the VHS tape to me . I have hours of them . I could not find any way to reach his family to see if they wanted them. The messages I put out to some of his past co-workers went unanswered . I found John a smart old man and he educated and entertained me greatly for years . He went to Seminary School to be a preacher but got into talk radio instead. I found his understanding of the Bible insightful maybe the 10 people that hear this might too. For the people that may find this that were fans of John that might now how to contact his serving son ( if he is ) I have many hours of his shows that I will not post on here. Time and editing for compliance … and .. Well I’m in the 5 items or less check on line now . But I wanted to get his religious edits out there . Thanks John Dayl bio : Was from a large family on the farm. Was a First Sgt in the US Army I think during the Korean war era . Married 6 or 8 times . Dayl, whose full name was John Dayl Locklear, had been live on Phoenix airwaves since 1987 and spoke on topics that ran the gamut from politics to sex to race issues. Dayl openly referred to women as "broads" and once opined that adults killed in the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing were "not innocent victims." But friends say that was the mentality of a man who grew up during the Depression, the youngest of nine children in a pioneer family from Idaho. But friends say that was the mentality of a man who grew up during the Depression, the youngest of nine children in a pioneer family from Idaho. Dayl worked in Seattle, Oklahoma City and Cleveland before arriving in Phoenix. A majority of his career in the Valley was spent at KFYI-AM 910 then (550), but more recently his Conversations With John Dayl was broadcast on KFNX. Longtime friend Herb Kalish is hosting a final tribute show tonight on KFNX titled Conversations About John Dayl. Listeners may call the station from 7 to 9 p.m. to share memories about the late talk-radio host. Kalish said Dayl was the "dean of talk radio in Phoenix." He didn't set out to please people but never intended to hurt anyone, Kalish "He had stories we couldn't even fathom in our fat and happy generation," Baumbach said. "They won't make another one like him." Dayl is survived by a son, Steven Locklear. No services are planned. By Buck Huff Nov 5 2007 The last great story he told Saturday night was about his trip back from Idaho. He said he couldn’t do the long drive in one haul anymore, he was worn out. He stopped off in Vegas for a room. The woman “In her 30s, not an unattractive woman..” told him that they only had the Jacuzzi Room for 285 dollars a night. John, and I wish you could hear his voice, said, “Honey, if they threw you into the jacuzzi with the room, I still wouldn’t pay 285 dollars a night.” And he left. A few nights later, he left us all for good. It was probably the only peaceful exit he ever made. Lost 70’s John once bragged on the air he was the only Host to ever get fired 4 times and rehired . The public loved him so much , LOL that station got the public mad when they fired him . LOL His most famous quote . I have the recording some where but I did play it back years ago and wrote it down word for word . "These people who work in those buildings are not innocent victims. If they work in the federal building, they're the very people that are typing the letters, that are making the phone calls, that are getting your land taken away from you, that are calling you up on Internal Revenue Service, that want to confiscate all of your guns. These are the same people who womp up charges against you. These are the very same people that are all involved, every one of them. I don't care whether they are any more than a clerk or the high muckety-muck, or the guy out there who's got BATF painted on this back, and he's the one who's knocking your door down. These people are not innocent victims. These are people that operate and move the system against you and I. These are people that have sold out to the system. These are the people that are against you and I." --John Dayl, on the Oklahoma City Bombing, talk radio host for KFYI, Phoenix, from July 21, 1996.
