You could get involved in the community TV program as the government forced the cable companies to spend a micro portion of their revenues on studios and editing suites for community access. Show like Nitedreams. Soundproof and the Complaint Department were created by producers like Martin Stubbs and Dave Toddington! Indie artists had an outlet for their music and music videos and the whole thing fed off itself. A plethora of little live venues and after hours underground bars helped create a fertile garden for musicians to grow in! The foundation of local and imported musicians, discontent with the status quo and the DIY ethic of the local scene caused the whole thing to bloom.
