Dies Irae abandoned MUGEN project

I can't find much info about it, but the artwork (while consisting of unfinished sketches at this point) is pretty solid, and the characters animate like they feel they should. They seem to have complete movesets in terms of programming and mechanics too. From what I understand this project was abandoned, but for what reasons I am not sure. There is very little information about it in English.
