Loom: Complete Playthrough [No Commentary, Maximum Detail]

2 videos • 60 views • by St. George's Games This is a complete playthrough of Loom by LucasArts (1990), in two episodes (less than two hours of gameplay on the whole). You play as Bobbin Threadbare, a young suspicious outcast in the Guild of Weavers, one of the many Guilds formed in the aftermath of a global catastrophe that separated the world into isolated communes based on their professional competence. Once misfortune falls on the Guild, Bobbin goes on a mission to find his "flock", unravel his family history, and, if he still got time... maybe save the world from Chaos a little? The selected version for playing is the FM Towns release from April 1991 (played through the ScummVM emulator) which upgrades the original graphics to 256-color VGA and contains a full musical soundtrack (mostly based on Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake"), but no voice acting. This one is usually preferred over the 1992 DOS release with (rather poor quality) voice acting, which truncates much of the game's dialog and visuals in order to make way for the speech pack. The FM Towns version can be regarded as more or less definitive, though, needless to say, Loom still awaits a proper remaster for the modern age.
