I didn't actually mind for it was my ownmost repository of expressions and has provided both artistic and existential release. However I admit that hearing myself play has provided a different vantage point for appreciating what I may have taken for granted. I actually got the idea of recording my music arrangements when I was teaching my niece how to play the piano, and what she does other than memorizing the chord progressions, she'll get her iPhone and record it while I play. Sooner or later, I'll be hearing myself play -- not from the iPhone, but she actually mimicked my playing while at the same time learning to play the piece. I guess at a certain point in life, there comes a time when those taken for granted are rediscovered in a rare glimpse of appreciation and profundity of expression.
