Ved in Gurbani means essence of Spiritual Wisdom. Ved Dharam means the Religion of Spiritual Wisdom. Vedic wisdom, which had lost its core through an increasing focus on outward practices such as idol worship, rituals and the capitalisation of religion through payments for prayers and other services, was eventually refined and expanded through the enlightened ones (Bhagat, Gur) in a unique way and preserved in Gurbani (Adi Granth and Dasam Granth).
