Nikki Oniyome is an trip hop and folktronica band from Oslo, Norway. Nikki Oniyome is the heart child of songwriter, vocalist and guitarist Lisa Canlinha, producer Jørgen Skjulstad (aka Center of the Universe), and bass player Vebjørn Axelsen. In 2017 they released their first two singles, followed by their debut EP 水 Sui/Mizu in 2018, described by reviewers as «strangely beautiful and strangely twisted» (Your Dead Partner), captivating «with unusual sounds, weird ideas and a successful production» (Global Music Magazine). Their debut album ai 愛 was released 2019 and their core listeners covered their tears in glitter and gave the album a spin. With a slight nod to the electronica, trip hop, folktronica and ambient music of Portishead, Björk, Fever Ray, Lamb, and other forms of weird and existential beats, their music is colored by unusual sounds and weird ideas in the production, making an alluring backdrop to the distinct female vocal. Nikki Oniyome is part of the music collective Metronomicon Audio. Metronomicon Audio started in 2001, and is a community that has produced more than 100 releases.
