Refusing any form of abstraction, De Grandi, with this new opus, affirms himself as one of the main representatives of a direct and uncompromising club music. The opening track, « Cable » , a sensual and frustrating "drumless" tool, a weapon of choice in the arsenal of a DJ to create a real tension, only then to better release it. « R7 to Number 2 » is a track where behind the ostentatious nonchalance of the melody lies a sharp know-how, a sense of rhythmic efficiency undeniable that is the admiration of his peers in France and internationally. The efficiency goes up a notch with « Steve 3 » . De Grandi again applies to create an organic interweaving between the hysterical melody and the frenzied percussive lines. He adds inventiveness in the assembly of subtle synthetic percussions composing as a whole an alluring rhythmic fabric. With « Paris Nord-Est », the eponymous track, De Grandi, tackles here frontally a passion left until then discreetly in the background : melody. Always in search of efficiency, he managed to find the delicate balance between a pure melody, exhilarating, and an infallible rhythm. Recorded live on an early 2000 sampler, « Ah Ouais Hein », is a groove lesson in the form of a drum tool arrogantly orchestrated by a producer whose first instrument was the drums. De Grandi fantasizes here his claimed title of « Meilleur Ouvrier de France » (Best Craftsmen of France) of drum programming. But if this rhythm science is undeniable, what makes it attractive lies above all in the personality that emerges from it, in the charisma that makes each of its beats immediately recognizable.
