First of all, it is about a cult whose leader The Master (Tom Neyman) worships "Manos" and he has five wives and is open to having more. Second, the 1966 movie itself has become a cult classic after it was rescued from obscurity in 1993 by the TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000. Since then, its legend has grown and spawn countless rumours and myths. Legend has it that Manos writer and director Hal Warren bet Sterling Siliphant that making a movie would be easy and that he would make one himself. One reason it has become a favourite of B-movie enthusiasts is the performance of John Reynolds as Torgo, who takes care of the place while The Master is away. Sadly, Reynolds committed suicide a month before the film's premiere. There's also The Master's iconic robe with two large, red hands which are ominously displayed whenever he raises his arms out to each side. Both The Master and Torgo have become cosplay favourites at movie conventions. Manos has become so popular that a sequel (Manos Returns) is being produced for its 50th anniversary by Jackey Neyman who played Debbie in the movie and is the daughter of Tom Neyman.
