Joan assumes he's being called to armed service. She panics. According to her, Brad's out of shape to return to Navy duty and needs some pre-training training. She sets up a military environment in the house complete with a mess hall set-up in the living room and hammocks in the bedroom. Both Jim Backus and Joan do some great physical shtick with those. When Brad finds out that the letter was actually asking him be a sitting member of the board, Joan panics further: she's sub-let their house for a year! She concocts a plan with her friend Harriet, played by veteran character actress Mary Treen, to scare the unmovable prospective sub-lettors into backing off. Joan, along with Ms. Treen and a little male assistant, creates a Balinese twilight zone that does the trick!
