Soon after he met local producer Nick West and discovered they both shared a similar passion for electronic music. It wasn't long after that Michal offered for Nick to join him as a partner on his newly formed label Beef records. United by a passion for producing and playing, and a disillusionment with a music industry obsessed with genres they soon began performing and producing together under the Shades Of Gray moniker. They quickly gained a reputation as one of the hottest acts on the Sydney underground scene by rocking the floor at legendary Reckless Republic parties in Kings Cross. Schwa was resident DJ at Sydney's finest after-hours party Spice and that is where Shades dropped some of their biggest unreleased tracks in the early days. It wasn't long after that the boys were touring internationally performing from Tokyo to Moscow and Paris to Prague. During their trips to Europe they would be based out of Schwas Prague studio. That is where some of their biggest tunes were produced including the chart topping "Moog in the House" track (#6 on Beatport chart and #3 on decks chart). In just a few short years Shades have made quite an impact on the house music scene with heavy chart support by industry veterans Shuri-i-Kan, Miss Kittin, Jimpster, Pezzner, Laurent Guarnier, Miguel Migs and The Timewriter to name a few. Their debut album 'Soul Machine' was critically acclaimed by the press receiving glowing reviews in DJ Mag and DeBug to name a few. Tracks from the album have been charted and played by Smash TV, Luna City Express, Moodyman, Slam and many others. To date SOG have clocked up over 50 releases including vinyl records and CDs. Their tracks have been remixed by some of the best in the business including Ian Pooley, Pezzner, The Timewriter, Milton Jackson, Soul Minority, Boris Brejcha, Ramon Tapia, Alex Kenji, Norm De Plume and Jef K.
