2007 UAW Bargaining Convention Uncensored
12 videos • 236 views • by Public D The 2007 UAW/Big 3 Contract Negotiations resulted in historic give-backs to the corporations at the expense of workers. A 2nd tier wage/benefits structure was permitted for new hires. Their wages were slashed by half. They will not receive health care nor a pension. Current UAW retiree health care became the union's responsibility with the creation of multi-billion dollar VEBA funds comprised of Big 3 stock. Such an arrangement forces the union into the role of fellow Big 3 stock price manipulator -perhaps advocating layoffs, plant closings, outsourcing, etc.- to protect the VEBA, rather than fighting those same tactics to protect workers, families, and communities. Members of Soldiers of Solidarity and other concerned UAW members attended the 2007 Bargaining Convention to try to squash these anti-worker, anti-union plans.
