Fails at Quake 1

And so I decided to rectify that and finally sit down and play it all the way through. I've always considered Quake 2 to be the greatest fps ever, and so it only seemed fair to give its predecessor a fair visit. Quake 1 is played via Steam with no mods, except for getting the music back into the game. I worked hard to get it to run this way and didn't want to play with any of the source ports. I wanted to have the true late 90's feel of the game. There are some instances where I have left my death in the video, this is either because I thought it was funny or because I was close enough to the end and felt that that attempt was the better option. I tried a couple different options to get the episode ending text to be more legible but it all failed, sorry for that. Quake is a first-person shooter video game that was developed by id Software and published by GT Interactive Software. The game was released on June 22, 1996 for Microsoft DOS. Like Doom, it was a first person shooter and was clearly influenced by Doom in its style of gameplay, design, and story. For example, Quake features a similar arsenal of Weapons as well as teleporters. Features original to Quake, like the console, later appeared in Doom source ports. Once the official Quake source code was released, some Doom source ports incorporated portions of the Quake source.
