5 videos • 123 views • by SpeechandDrama Beginning in the 2002--2003 school year, the upper-level drama classes began performing a Holiday Play each year for the 5th and 6th grade classes. We took a break from this tradition in the 2007--2008 school year, but other than that we've done one every year! EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES •Students will, through class discussion, propose suggestions and ideas for the holiday performance to be presented to an audience consisting of Pennsauken elementary school students. •Students will, through class discussion, identify themes to be explored through the holiday performances. •Students will, through class discussion, develop requirements for the holiday performances. •Students will, through class discussion, design performances that incorporate elements of Christmas, Hanukah, Three Kings, and Kwanzaa. •Students will, through in class discussion, describe the elements of a plot line and place them accordingly. •Students will design their own plot lines in accordance with where events and instances fall in their groups dramatic scene. •Students will analyze the important events within their groups dramatic scene and identify their place within a plot line. •Students will choose roles to perform within their home groups. •Students will design a cast of characters for their holiday plays. •Students will create a description to accompany each character. •Students will compose an exposition setting description to accompany their holiday play. •Students will compose scripts for their holiday plays utilizing script dialogue conventions and stage directions. •Students will rehearse their series of three short holiday plays intended for elementary school students.
