Handel’s Messiah Part 2 begins with the choir asking us to listen to the story of the Lamb of God, “Messiah”, who must die painfully; and sacrifice his life as the price of absolving the sin of all humanity. Part 2 ends in the rousing Hallelujah Chorus, with words taken from the Book of Revelation. Handel’s Messiah was introduced on April 9th 1742 as part of the Easter Passion and specifically describes the Passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
