23 videos • 634 views • by RiffIAGuitar The Kentucky bluegrass sound originates from mandolin legend Bill Monroe (9/13/11 - 9/9/96) who is credited as being "the father of bluegrass." In his search for creating a sound of his own, Monroe eventually formed the band Bill Monroe and The Bluegrass Boys with his brothers Charlie (guitar) and Birch (fiddle). This infectious sound is credited to shaping many genres of music, including Country, Honky Tonk, Western Swing and Rock & Roll. In this lesson series you'll learn various strumming and picking patterns which synchronize to chord changes and lick patterns. Intermediate players and above will benefit by learning how to create their own chord progressions and picking patterns.
