The two awards -- The International Activist Award and the Citizen Activist Award, alternate years and include a prize of $100,000 and a sculpture designed by Maya Lin, the creator of the Vietnam War Memorial. Mr. Gleitsman passed away in May of 2006, but ensured that the awards programs would continue by establishing a permanent endowment for the Gleitsman Program in Leadership for Social Change at the Center for Public Leadership.
