REACTABAIT

The "a' in between "React" and "Bait" arguably denotes the word "Reactor" (Reacta). "Reactabait" has been misinterpreted to be a term which is critical of the artists and fans themselves. This is untrue. Reactabait is: "Any video, usually music, which is often requested for reactions on "reaction" channels. "Reactabait" is a video which usually involves something which takes the listener or viewer by surprise, eliciting a 'reaction' which fans want to see." The unsuspecting "reactor", who has just started their channel, merely tries to fulfil the requests of their viewers. Upon releasing the video, they are flooded with views, likes, comments, and subscriptions. Comments usually go on to suggest other songs or videos from the same artist, which the "reactor" feels obliged to fulfil. This often puts the "reactor" in a cycle of "reacting" to music by these artists, which can begin to elicit disingenuous positive responses to keep subscribers (or one time viewers) happy. The concept of “reactabait” baits the content creator into doing such videos so they maximise their subscriber growth. It's important to know that the term is not a critique on artists or fans of the artists. The term is used to describe the phenomenon of "reacting" to videos (often meaning just giving them a positive response) focussing on fast subscriber growth from capitalising off another's creative property. Reactabait is a tongue in cheek term to call out the phenomenon of reaction channels and how many operate, whilst personally seeming to operate in the same way in this instance.
