I Married Joan S2-3 'Furniture Quick Changes'

2 videos • 188 views • by JoanDavisChannel "ADULTERY IN SIT-COM LAND?" This is an unusual episode for the genre and the time--Joan rearranges furniture and Brad thinks he's losing his mind. That's actually just the McGuffin in this. What it's REALLY about is this: A female psychologist/business associate of Brad puts THE MOVES on him. Seriously! This woman's intentions include much more than dinner and a movie! Jim Backus is terrific here in that he plays it on the line. He manages to be naïve without appearing a sap. Kudos to director John Rich for setting just the right tone. The shrink arranges for a "therapy" session at a seaside amusement park. Joan follows. Joan has an AMAZING scene where she replaces the mechanical figure in a fortune-telling machine. Brilliant! Evelyn Brooks (she played Ada Jacks on TV's Peyton Place) does a terrific job as the shrink. So BRAZEN for 1953! Geraldine Carr is Mabel. Season 2, Episode 3, October 28, 1953.
