K.Prabhakaran is a talented playback singer and music composer totally immersed in the world of music. Prabhakar himself is a disciple of Mellisai Mannar Sri M S Viswanathan.

Prabhakar was introduced as a playback singer in 1988 under the baton wielded by renowned Music Director Sri. Chandrabose for the Tamil film Kazhugumalai Kallan (directed by Rajashekar).

He has been an assistant to Music directors M S Viswanathan and T.K. Ramamurthy, S.P.Venkatesh etc.,

Has composed music and sung along with S.P.Balasubramaniam for a Telugu movie “O Manishi Neevu evaru” starring Suman, directed by hindi movie cameraman Krishnamoorthy Raj Kumar naidu and Produced by Swarna Creations.

Among the list of his notable performances are:
1 Special Guest on Ennodu Paattupaadungal with Dr. S P Balasubramaniam and Mr. Vasanth (film director).
2.Guest singer on Endrum MSV telecast on Mega TV.
